February

On Friday 3, Mike again joined our team for the Pate’s Parents’ Association quiz.  To Teresa’s dismay the first round was all about the cricket Ashes series 2005, but luckily Roger is a fan.  Mike demonstrated his mastery of all things geographical and historical, and Teresa and Juliet added vital contributions on music, translations and anagrams.  We held the narrowest of leads going into the last round, and just held on to win – wine and chocolates for a short celebration at home later.

The following Friday saw us at the Shutter Inn in Gotherington for the bowls club dinner.  If the service was a bit disorganised (the pub is under new management), the food was very good.  About half the active members were there – a good turn out for a cold February evening.  We all looked forward to the opening of the green on Sunday 16 April, and to a quiz night on Friday 21, which Teresa and I agreed to organise.

On Sunday 21, Clyde competed in a dressage competition at Allens Hill.  As a non-specialist, he did well to win fourth place in an open class, and a first place in the veteran’s class.

Unfortunately, the following week, the horse-box broke down, before it had left the yard, fortunately, so no further competition was possible during the month.
